Pulled data from https://data.medicare.gov/dataset/Hospital-Outcome-Of-Care-Measures/f24z-mvb9 and then removed all entries with 'Not enough data.' Then back-calculated total number of patients by mortality rate. Broke down the data by state and calculated the readmit rate: [# of patients readmitted]/[total # of patients – # of patients deceased]. These data were pulled in January 2013
