Volcanic eruptions may add to the carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere but a study published in Nature Geoscience revealed that they are slowing down the warming of the atmosphere.
At the time of eruption, millions of gases and ashes are released into the atmosphere but these eruptions release sulphur droplets or aerosols into the air that reflect sunlight, causing temperatures to drop.
However, scientists claim that volcanoes provide temporary respite from the relentless warming pressure of continued increases in carbon dioxide.
