Energy use refers to use of primary energy before transformation to other end-use fuels, which is equal to indigenous production plus imports and stock changes, minus exports and fuels supplied to ships and aircraft engaged in international transport. China heads the list, with 2.72 million ktons of oil equivalent. The United States follows with an energy use of 2.191 million ktons. Other major energy users include India and Russia.
