This map depicts the percentage of people in the country that currently live below 5 m elevation above sea level. The implications of this map are that low-lying countries and countries with relatively little topographic elevation bordering the ocean have populations that are vulnerable to rises in sea level. Depending on the locaiton, this could be from storm surges or tsunamis. In all cases, if the sea level rises as predicted by scientific evidence and just plain look out your window evidence, countries with significatnt populations or infrastructure in this area could be subject to flooding. 5 m rise in sea level is a great deal at today's rate of sea level rise, but it is not outside of the realm of possibility in the next century.
